So one thing I fully admit, is that I have been blessed with problem free skin.
I’ve never established a morning or evening skincare routine – not from lack of trying! I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on products that never get used.
(Sound familiar?)
And I can’t even begin to count the number of times I neglected to remove my makeup. I should have pimples and acne and all sorts of other issues, but, no matter how much I abuse my skin, it’s relatively problem free!
Except if I’m upset. Some girls can still look pretty when they cry, but not me. I get red and splotchy.
I usually tell myself “after the facial”
Remember the previous post, text with my husband:

Guilty!
I think it would be easier if I DID have problematic skin. If I did, I’d learn to take care of it instead of ignoring it.
However, there’s no ignoring the clock. If I don’t start taking care of my skin NOW, pimples and blemishes will be the least of my worries!
Causes of Skin Aging
• Intrinsic aging: Natural chronological aging controlled by genetics and cellular slowdown.
• Extrinsic aging: Environmental damage, primarily ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun (photoaging).
• Lifestyle factors: Smoking, poor sleep, stress, and high-sugar diets break down essential structural proteins.
Structural Changes
• Collagen decline: Production drops steadily, reducing strength and firmness.
• Elastin loss: Fibers break down, causing the skin to lose elasticity and bounce back.
• Thinner layers: The outer epidermis and supportive fat layers thin out, making blood vessels more fragile.
• Reduced oil and sweat: Glands produce less sebum and sweat, leading to drier skin.
Prevention and Care
• Sun protection: Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher daily.
• Hydration and moisture: Apply fragrance-free daily moisturizers containing hyaluronic acid or glycerin.
• Active ingredients: Incorporate topical antioxidants like vitamin C and gentle retinoids to support cell turnover.
• Healthy habits: Avoid smoking, manage stress, and get enough quality sleep.

I’ve also been told by a couple of estheticians that getting a facial quarterly – so the changing of every season – helps remove any dead skin and balances your skin for the next season.
Could be a sales tactic, but, let’s just admit it. Facials are amazing! I had one back in February for out trip to the Dominican, and my skin felt amazing. And I had another facial 2 weeks ago…
(I found a great little spa – Spa With Care – just outside base and it’s been a God send!!! I’ve had 2 massages, a facial, manicure and pedicure over the past month to help keep my sanity!)
…and my skin still feels incredible! So when I was shopping this weekend, I grabbed these facial sheets – I’m going to try to make Sundays a “me” day.
Because after this long of abusing it, my skin deserves some pampering!
